I feel strongly that giving one- third of your editorial page to the candidate running against our current sheriff is completely unfair. This ends up being free political advertising and an advantage to one side. Equal print space should be offered to any other so-called "guest columnist" that supports Sheriff Benton.

I must add that as a registered Republican I was unable to vote for Sheriff Benton in the primary. However she can count on my vote in November for re-election knowing that she will continue to exemplify the best in public service.

Editor's note: Mr. Grimming's guest column was in response to a column of about the same length written by Lisa Burley, the sheriff's chief of staff. We believe it was fair for both sides to present their case on the proposed building.
