AVON PARK - The Family Readiness Group of the Bravo Battery, 3/116th FA MLRS local National Guard military unit, along with a Springfield College group project called "Touched By Angels," will be having a fundraising yard sale at the Avon Park Armory on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
They are currently accepting donations that may be dropped off on Friday, Sept. 19 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. If you have any large items that may need to be picked up, that can be arranged by calling Debbie at 443-9262.
The funds raised will go toward the needs of the local military families. Also, "Touched By Angels" will be providing a needy military family within the local area with Christmas for their children that otherwise may not get to enjoy one. Food baskets will be put together for them, as well. They also will be providing this unit and their families with a Christmas dinner at the armory during their drill weekend in December.
The FRG and Touched By Angels want to help all of the military personnel for their sacrifices and heroism.
When the Bravo Battery returned from Iraq in 2006, many of these soldiers did not have jobs to return to. Many still are struggling financially due to their leave of absence and other issues.
Those who want to donate to the yard sale should call Debbie at 863-443-9262 or Amy at 863-214-6999. They are also accepting donations that would help with the Christmas dinner and Christmas for a military family.
