LAKE PLACID Eight shots were fired but no one was injured Sunday night during a drive-by shooting in the 100 block of Anderson Street, in Highway Park, according to the Highlands County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office received the 911 call at about 10:42 p.m. Sunday.
Sheriff's investigators are looking for a lime-green older model Crown Victoria or Mercury.
The suspect or suspects pulled out a rifle "long-barreled gun," according to Sheriff's Sgt. Darin Hood, and fired as several of the victims were getting ready to leave the residence.
The shots were fired in the direction of the residence and the visitors, said Sheriff's Lt. Kenny Johnson on Monday morning. Two vehicles at the residence were hit, he said.
It is believed the shots were fired in relation to an argument which took place earlier.
"I don't know where that argument took place," said Johnson.
It is not known at this time how many victims are involved, but it is believed that there were two suspects in the vehicle.
Anderson Street is about one block from U.S. 27.
The sheriff's Criminal Investigations Unit is following up on leads, said Hood.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact the Highlands County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Unit at 402-7250 or the call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward.
