Swimmers get off to a quick start in the 400 freestyle relay event during Saturday's Blackman Invitational Relays at Sebring High School. The annual event attracted a strong field of 10 teams in the girls and boys divisions.

SEBRING - It may have only been for fun, but the Sebring and Lake Placid swimming squads put on a dominating performance in Saturday's annual Blackman Invitational Relays at the Blue Streak pool.
The Blue Streak boys, led by seniors Brian Kirsch and Matthew Vickers, cruised to first place in the 10-team meet with 393 points, while Lake Placid placed a close second with 374.
Sebring won the 400-yard medley relay, as Vickers, Kirsch, Colton Statler and Josh Heflin finished first with a time of 4:29.02.
The Green Dragon quartet of Dylan Weber-Callahan, Kevin Smit, Robert Greene and Michael Trujillo placed second with a 4:37.17.
Statler, Kirsch, Vickers and Heflin then combined to win the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:57.04.
Blue Streaks Cody Spiegel, Connor Bauer, Warren Giller and Brian Miler won the 200 backstroke relay with a 2:12.14, while Lake Placid's Kyle Jenkins, Matthew Padovano, Coleby Slade and Kyle LeBlanc managed to place fourth with a time of 2:34.28.
Miller, Spiegel, Bauer and Michael Bickman finished second in the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:45.84
The Green Dragon foursome of Trujillo, Greene, Smit and Edwin Velasquez won the 200-yard butterfly relay with a time of 2:05.50.
Lake Region came in third in the boys meet with 356, Hardee had 318, Lakeland George Jenkins scored 284, All Saints had 273, Frostproof totaled 206, Lakeland had 143, Okeechobee finished with 131 and Avon Park had 104.
George Jenkins won the girls meet with 528 points, while Sebring placed second with 491 and Lake Placid came in third with 312.
Sebring's Katie Bullard, Samatha Miller, Megan Wolfe and Julie Kirsch placed second in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:49.33.
The foursome of Rachael Blackman, Michelle Bash, Kirsch and Marissa Parsons claimed second in the 200 yard butterfly with a 2:14.75.
Bullard, Wolfe, Spiegel and Kirsch won the 400 freestyle relay with a 4:13.13, while Samantha Spiegel, Bullard, Kate Bryan and Blackman finished first in the 200 backstroke relay with a 2:20.80.
Miller, Wolfe, Bullard and Kristi Livingston won the 200 medley relay with a 2:11.51, while the Lake Placid quartet of Tammi Beach, Weber-Callahan, Cherish McBryer and Greene placed second in the 200 freestyle co-ed event in 1:48.00.
All Saints came in fourth in the girls meet with 295, Lake Region had 288, Hardee scored 240, Okeechobee finished with 235, Lakeland had 193, Avon Park came in with 124 and Frostproof scored 86.
Additionally, Sebring's Megan Wolfe broke her own school record in the 100 freestyle event in a meet in Winter Haven last Thursday.
The Blue Streak girls won the five-team meet, while the boys placed second.
"The girls had seven firsts in eleven events," said Sebring coach Pat Caton. "The boys had six firsts and we're working hard to improve."
Sebring is back in action on Saturday with a meet in Lakeland, while Lake Placid hosts Avon Park at 5 p.m. today.
