SEBRING - The Highlands County Sheriff's Office credits the cooperative work of the Sebring and Avon Park police departments, the Orange County Sheriff's Office and Highlands County sheriff's detectives with the take down of what it has labeled a "burglary and robbery ring".
In a news release, the sheriff's office states the three members arrested are responsible for crimes in multiple jurisdictions.
The suspects named in the news release are Deol Narayan, 18, of 3525 Dauphine St., Sebring, Luis Reyes Jr., 18, of 2011 Rainbow Ave., Sebring, and Nicholas Ramos, 19, of 1879 Jones Drive, Sebring.
The multi-agency investigation was launched with the arrest of Reyes Jr. on Aug. 7 by the Sebring Police Department.
Reyes Jr. was arrested and charged with a burglary and grand theft reportedly committed at 2902 Orange Grove Drive, Sebring, the sheriff's office stated.
"As subsequent investigation and interviews revealed the scope of the group's criminal activity, detectives from Sebring and Avon Park Police Departments and the Highlands and Orange County Sheriff's Offices worked together to link the various suspects with crimes under investigation," the news release stated.
The investigation culminated with two search warrants being served on Aug. 20 at 1879 Jones Drive, Sebring, and 3525 Dauphine St., Sebring.
"These search warrants resulted in the recovery of evidence, firearms, and stolen property," the release stated.
Narayan, Reyes Jr. , and Ramos all face robbery charges related to the armed robberies of a Subway restaurant and a 7-Eleven convenience store in Orange County, on Aug. 8 and Aug. 9, respectively.
"The Highlands County Sheriff's Office has filed charges against Narayan (charging him with) the robbery of Taylor's BP at State Road 17 N. and Arbuckle Creek Road, Sebring on July 8, the robbery of AJ Petroleum located at Grand Prix Drive and U.S. 27 on July 7, and the robbery of an individual walking near AJ Petroleum on Aug. 16," the sheriff's office reported.
"Narayan also faces charges from the Avon Park Police Department in reference to the robbery of the Hilltop Texaco gas station in the early morning hours of Aug. 16," according to the report.
Narayan and Ramos are being charged with burglary of a dwelling and grand theft by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office in regard to a burglary at 4000 Arbuckle Creek Road.
Reyes Jr. is also being charged with a burglary and grand theft which occurred at 4622 Queen Palm Drive, in Sebring, on Aug. 6.
"This multi agency investigation is yet another example of law enforcements' ability to work together, sharing information and technology to identify offenders and solve crime within our community," the press release stated.
