Picking Palin to be his running mate was to McCain the perfect political choice, but using her family's experience in order to gain the fundamentalist votes will not be good for the fundamentalist cause, as it blows up their theory that teaching abstinence is the solution to teen pregnancies.
Before Palin became a political pawn, women were supposed to stay home and teach their children family values, even to the point of home schooling. We are now being told that a working mother can have it all as long as she doesn't resort to abortions (and can afford to have others take up her duties at home.)
Not having an abortion does not qualify anyone for sainthood, as we are all subject to err and repent our mistakes. Forgiveness is right up there with cleanliness in the eyes of God.
If McCain's political ploy works, and if he keeps his promises to the fundamentalists, he will push for taking condoms and contraceptives off the market and will make abortions illegal, which would serve to break down the wall between church and state the fundamentalists making the judgments on every subject (including scientific discoveries that dispute their theories,) and the state wielding a big stick.
With McCain-Palin leading us, there would be no change either here or abroad; the war would be kept up for both political and religious reasons, and as a result the world would remain as it is today, in a state of political, financial and religious turmoil.
