LAKE PLACID - After being rescheduled due to lightning, the Lake Placid swim team displayed a lot of quickness in the pool during Wednesday's annual Green and White meet at Lake Placid High School.
"This event enables coaches to simulate a real swim meet," said LP assistant coach Mary Taylor. "It gives the new kids a chance to get used to being nervous and hearing the starting beep for the first time.
"It's a great way for the team to unite and cheer each other on."
Junior Tammi Beach had an excellent day, with strong showings in the 200-medley relay and the mixed 200 free.
Senior Marbelly Creel won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:17.61, while sophomore Taylor Lightsey finished first in the 100 free.
Shannon Viox won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:37.30 and Lissette Vega won the 100 breaststroke in 1:50.96.
Junior Robert Greene led the Dragon boys by placing in the 100-free and finishing third in the 200 free relay.
Lake Placid will compete in Saturday's Blackman Relays at Sebring High and then the Green Dragons open the season by hosting Avon Park on Tuesday.
