In response to your editorial question about voters, thank you for the question and the suggestions. I too believe that only those who are informed with the facts about their candidate of choice should vote. Since you offered the statement that; "anyone who believes Sen. Obama is a Muslim shouldn't vote."
I haven't read his books, but I do read every day from the Internet claims from various journalists about both candidates. Am I to believe that Obama could attend a church for 20 years that clearly hates America, yet doesn't commiserate with its fellowship instead? How many of the hate screaming individuals in the pews there are going to be "informed voters"?
In an article from Stanley Kurtz, (NRO Contributing Editor, Chicago) from Aug. 18, there seems to be a cover-up, in effect, of documents which tie Obama to Bill Ayers. Bill Ayers is a known terrorist, who was tied to bombings both in New York and the Pentagon in the '60s, and regularly chooses to stomp the American Flag for publicity. According to the article, Obama actually launched his political career at Ayers' home. The article is lengthy, and it tells of the great efforts that are being made to keep hundreds of boxes of documents secret. Not only is this typical of the Democratic Party, but just another instance of how known criminals evade prosecution, and go on to become politicians.
More importantly, and this is key in my voting mind, Obama came out of nowhere, with untold amounts of financial backing, and was groomed to perfection on how to win the hearts and minds of our most populated interest group (the people who have entitlement issues). All information regarding his past, points to a very negative history, and any question of it is answered with simply discarding those with whom he has been associated, and the flash of the "race card."
Was his wife's comment about being proud to be American for the first time in her life really misunderstood? Not in my mind. John McCain has a very open political history, as well as a proven record for protecting American values, as well as his fellow soldiers. The only things I've heard about McCain that weren't common knowledge were about acts of selflessness and charity.
We will never have a president who will make every American happy. That's not part of the job description. We need to ask very simply this: In whose hands, are we as a nation, going to be better protected, and who is more apt to work for the betterment of our society rather than his own agenda?
You say these are "exciting times." I disagree, and offer that these are frightening times. America as we know it hangs in the balance and on the outcome of this election. I fully agree that change is needed, but I think that one of our candidates has extreme changes in mind. I'd like to know a lot more about Sen. Obama, but I wouldn't vote for him based on what I already know.
President Bush has shamed the Republican Party with his "good ole boy" choices, but that doesn't mean that McCain would continue this travesty. Despite Bush's financial one-sidedness, his legacy will have to admit that his administration has prevented terrorism from prospering, worldwide. How can Obama even suggest doing this, when so many points of his "arrival" point directly toward hating America?
Based on the allegations, versus the actual information we have about Barack Obama, I believe that we should realistically be preparing ourselves for the fallout of either result of this election. In which instance are we going to be faced with the likes of Bill Ayers, Farrakhan, the Black Panthers, Osama Bin Laden, and Rev. Wright? Will every city in America look like the aftermath of Katrina?
The liberal media has rocketed Barack Obama to rock star status. I think it's time they started researching and disclosing the past of their poster child. Then we'll all be informed voters.
