AVON PARK - An Avon Park woman remained in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $6,000 bond Wednesday, after she was accused of selling an anklet stolen from William's Pawn shop on U.S. 27 in Avon Park, to A-1 Pawn shop, on South Commerce Avenue in Sebring.

Crystal Lyn Rich, 22, of 1680 N. Delaware Ave., No. 111, was charged with dealing in stolen property and false verification of ownership to a pawnbroker.

It was 12:41 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, when officer Christy Harbaugh arrived at the William's Pawn shop at 112 U.S. 27 S., about a report of a theft.

A store clerk told police that on Friday, Aug. 22, Rich had been in the store trying on an anklet valued at $139. The clerk turned her back on Rich momentarily and after Rich left the store, she noticed the anklet was stolen.

One pawn shop contacted another and police learned that A-1 was a likely next stop for the missing anklet. Police learned that at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 26, Rich pawned the item, the report stated.

Through mutual aid Avon Park police worked with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and the anklet was recovered. Rich was identified from a photo lineup.

Rich reportedly admitted to taking the anklet and pawning it, the report stated.
