I'm not very good with goodbyes, but I would be remiss if I did not take the time to thank all of the Albertson's associates with whom I have had the pleasure of working with at our Sebring location for the last 11 years. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication that made our store Albertson's "Store of the Year" in 2005.
For your selflessness when you showed up to work the morning after Hurricane Charley decimated the area, and worked countless hours serving our community while the other grocery stores remained closed for days.
Thank you for caring enough to take the time to get to know our customers and making them part of the "Albertsons Family;" for serving the community by rolling up your sleeves and donating more blood than any other grocery store or raising money for MDA, the Relay For Life and many other charities.
Thank you for making the Sebring Albertson's one of the most successful stores in the company's history. Without a doubt, these 11 years have been the most memorable in my 28-year career with Albertson's. Remember to hold your heads up high because in my book you are all winners. Our store was bought by Publix because it was so successful and they wanted us out of the marketplace.
In business the new saying is "If you can't beat them, buy them." I will keep you in my prayers and wish you all continued success in your future endeavors.
I would also be remiss if I did not thank Publix, their local store managers, and their District Manger Leighton Hall for the courtesy, dignity and respect that was given to the Albertson's associates during the interview process.
Thank you for the special considerations your company has extended toward many of our associates, I understand that it is something that Publix has never done before. My loss is certainly your gain.
To the community of Highlands County, thank you for your loyal support and your heartfelt goodbyes. I can't think of another place that I would rather live and work. Unfortunately, the path that I have chosen will temporarily take me away from this wonderful community. Till our paths cross again.
