With all the news media completely focused on the presidential elections and the weather, it seems no one is remembering we are at war.
Our young men and women are fighting in several faraway places, in extreme heat and under extreme conditions. I know that this election is historic, in that a young black man is running for the highest office, for the first time.
I also realize that the majority of Americans are anxious to have a new leader, and to finally be rid of the current administration; no one more so than I! But, can we please remember our troops?
The fine Americans are serving their country because they believe in what they are doing. They are fighting for freedom, for democracy, for us! No matter why we went to war, no matter what politicians do, these kids believe in the cause, and we must support them.
We must remember them and report on their efforts. We can "adopt" a soldier by going to AnySoldier.com and pick someone to send packages to.
We can write letters, we can support them here at home, in military hospitals, at bases and American Legion locals. We all can do something and should! Also, the media needs to report on the wars, not just on the politics and politicians. Maybe if we had our priorities straight, the world might be a better place.
