SHAW SCORES THREE TDs TO LEAD DOGS

AVON PARK - Tailback Marcus Shaw rushed 26 times for 163 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead DeSoto to a 41-0 drubbing of Avon Park in a Class 3A-District 12 game on Friday night at Joe Franza Stadium.
The Bulldogs' swarming defense forced six fumbles and three interceptions and scored twice in the rout. Avon Park, which dropped to 2-6, 0-3, fumbled on its second play from scrimmage and Shaw scored on a 14-yard run up the middle.
DeSoto, which improved to 6-2, 3-0, recovered a Red Devil fumble and linebacker Greg Summers returned it 34 yards for a touchdown to put the Bulldogs up 14-0 midway through the first quarter. Shaw had an 11-yard scoring run in the second period to give DeSoto a 21-0 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs sealed the win with a Shaw 12-yard scamper late in the third quarter.
