Authorities: Man Arrested For Lewd Conduct

SEBRING A local man was out of jail Monday on a $15,000 bond after being accused of inappropriately touching a young victim, authorities said.

Jan Alan Button Jr., 19, of 1430 Rainbow Ave., Sebring, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim between the age of 12 and 16 years, according to the Highlands County Sheriff's Office.

Around 3:35 a.m. Friday, authorities say the defendant entered the sleeping victim's room and inappropriately touched the victim for approximately two to three minutes. Button has a separate address than that of the alleged victim.

The child reported the incident, and deputies with the sheriff's office were notified. While en route to the victim's home, authorities spotted the suspect walking down Sparta Road, according to the arrest report. Deputies spoke with Button and read him his Miranda Rights, at which time he agreed to give a statement.

Button reportedly told authorities that, although he knew what he was doing was wrong, he found his alleged lewd behavior gratifying.
