County Libraries Extend Early Evening, Saturday Hours

SEBRING - The three branches of the Highlands County Library, in Sebring, Avon Park and Lake Placid, have extended early evening and Saturday afternoon hours.
Six days ago, all three libraries went to the following hours:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.;
Friday and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Previously, the libraries closed at noon on Saturdays, were open to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays, and stayed open past 5:30 p.m. one day a week.
A written survey taken at the Sebring library shows that people consider the new hours a positive change, said Mary Myers, library director.
"The vast majority have said they like it because they can stop in after work and they can stop in when they're out and about on Saturday afternoons," she said.
