Business Excellence Award Presented to E-Stone Corp.

SEBRING - E-Stone USA Corp. was honored Tuesday night as this year's winner of the Highlands County Business Excellence Award during the Highlands County Economic Development Commission's annual banquet and membership meeting.

E-Stone manufactures engineered stone at the Sebring Airport Industrial Park. At a state-of-the art facility, the company produces surfaces used for interior or exterior floors, walls and countertops.

The company has invested $30 million in buildings and equipment at its150,000 square-foot manufacturing facility, and employs 70 people at a wage well above the county's average, according to a press release from the EDC.

A world-wide organization, E-Stone's products are used in Canada, Mexico, England, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Italy and Germany as well as the United States.

During the banquet, John Shoop passed the gavel to 2008-2009 EDC Chairman Ronnie Carter. Carter will chair his first board of directors meeting in November.

Shoop, the outgoing chairman, spoke about Louise England, who was attending her last banquet as the organization's executive director, commending her for 17 years of service to the EDC. She was given a crystal vase as a token of appreciation.

England announced her resignation during the summer. She will continue to work for the commission until the end of the year.

The EDC has scheduled a holiday mixer and open house for England on Tuesday, Dec. 16, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the Inn on the Lakes.

A total of 168 people attended the banquet at the Quality Inn Conference Center in Sebring.
