SEBRING - A local man remained in jail Friday on a $10,000 bond after being arrested Wednesday following a dispute at Fairmount Cinema.
Charlton Terry Blain, 22, of Avon Park, was arrested for obstruction of justice and battery.

Officers responded to the theater just before 8:30 p.m., Wednesday in reference to a verbal dispute. The victim said she and Blain were watching a movie when the two got into an argument and the suspect took her purse and keys and headed outside, according to the arrest report.

Once she went outside to get her stuff back, the two started arguing again. The victim then tried to call the police two or three times for help, but Blain would allegedly take her cell phone from her and hang it up.

The victim added that Blain picked her up and put her inside a car, the report stated.

Blain told authorities the argument started after the victim got a phone call from an ex-boyfriend. He said he then wanted to go outside and have a cigarette, leading him to pick up her purse, retrieve the car keys, put the purse back and head out of the theatre.

The suspect said the victim followed him out and wanted him to give the keys back. He added she tried to hit him a few times, but missed.

When the victim started to call the police, Blain told officers he would give her back the keys and she would hang the phone up on her own. He did say there were a few times he took the phone from her when she was trying to make a call, but he did not know who she tried to dial, the report stated.
Sebring Police Department Officer Shannon Strenth made the arrest.
