SEBRING - A local car dealership is hosting a weekend of activities for children this weekend.
The Alan Jay Automotive Network is hosting the event, which includes music, contests and early trick or treating, which begins at 5 p.m. today. Candy will be distributed.
At 6, the rock group Groovus will perform at Alan Jay Nissan. At 7, adults will have a costume contest and "Wacky Wig" contest. Afterward, a rock 'n' roll trivia game begins with "Name That Rock Tune." Prizes and/or gas cards will be given for each contest winner.
On Saturday, complimentary hot dogs, bratwurst and beverages will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contests start at 2 p.m. with a water balloon contest. The kids' Halloween costume contest and trick or treating begins at 4 p.m.
At 5 p.m. Saturday, food eating contests begin. Adult contestants will have a chance to eat as many bratwursts as they can in five minutes, followed by both kids and adults in the pumpkin-pie eating contest.
Later that night will be the "Guitar-Hero" video game contest, with the contestant's efforts displayed on a large inflatable movie screen. The "Loudest Horror Scream" contest at 7:30 p.m. wraps up the day's activities.
The contest is open to children and adults.
Free hot dogs and bratwurst will be offered once more on Sunday as a complimentary lunch is available from noon - 2 p.m. Children are encouraged to come in costume as candy will again be distributed throughout the day on Sunday. Musical chairs will be available for the kids, followed by the adults. An egg toss will be held at 3 p.m.
The events will be located at the Rocktober sales event, between Alan Jay Chevrolet and Alan Jay Nissan on U.S. 27, just south of the Lakeshore Mall in Sebring.
