AVON PARK - Junior Dwayne Council saved his best for last on Friday night, as the Avon Park linebacker blocked an extra-point attempt and forced the deciding fumble in the Red Devils' 34-27 double-overtime victory over the Yellow Jackets in front of a homecoming crowd.
Both teams scored in the first overtime and had the ensuing extra point attempts blocked to force another overtime session that saw Avon Park senior quarterback Albert Moses hit sophomore receiver Alonzo Robertson for the go-ahead score in a game where Avon Park never trailed.
The Red Devils improve to 2-5, while the Yellow Jackets drop to 3-5 on the season.
Avon Park running back Virgil Cooper scored two touchdowns and had a pair of interceptions and tailback Teddy Allen scored twice in marking the Red Devil's first two-game winning streak in two years.
