'Turbo Court'

SEBRING Bob Germaine wants to bring the services offered through the Highlands County Clerk of Courts to the people, as opposed to the other way around.
To help accomplish this, the court's Web site is offering Turbo Court to interested users.
The nationwide system includes forms pertaining to family law, small claims and evictions.
Germaine said that, so far, the local system is only offering divorce forms. Usually, an individual wanting to dissolve a marriage would have to come to the clerk of court's office, purchase a thick packet and spend almost an hour filling out the necessary paperwork.
By doing the forms online, Germaine said that time could be cut in half to about 30 minutes.
Besides the applicant, Turbo Court also takes a great deal of weight off the clerks themselves.
"It reduces our clerks' time, because they ask you all the questions when you go through this system and the forms are filled out very professional," Germaine said.
The cost is about $39, as opposed to the potential thousands one could spend on attorney's fees. Through Turbo Court, a person can complete the forms and file a response in the event the spouse sues.
Beyond that, Germaine would recommend getting an attorney.
"We're in a situation that we try to help, but we can't give any legal advice," he said.
In the future, Germaine wants to add eviction forms to Turbo Court, another packet available for purchase in the clerk of courts office.
Small claims, however, will not be offered.
"We supply the (small claims) forms free, so why would they want to pay money on this when they can get it from me free," Germaine said.

"We're just hoping that our Web page can bring more to the public," Germaine said.
