Economic Situation

Published: October 17, 2008

At this time, even though the economic situation may seem the only criteria on which to judge a candidate please consider a couple of other points.

Remember that Barack Obama is a trained attorney. He has learned to talk a good line in order to sway a jury. How has he managed to raise so much money that he can be in your face every 20 or 30 minutes during the news?

Whoever is elected president will only be around four to eight years and doesn't necessarily have the ability to fulfill all his promises. The House and the Senate will have something to say, but the judges he appoints will be around to tell your grandchildren how the world should be run.

Remember the $2,800-a-plate dinner Hollywood celebrities sponsored for Mr. Obama? Could be the judges Mr. Obama appoints may interpret the constitution by Hollywood standards. He has already said he would abolish the defense of marriage act and effectively take away state's right to govern the way the people want. Look at California.

While in the Illinois Senate, he voted against the "Live Baby" bill. If a baby should happen to survive an attempted abortion that baby was not to receive any medical care and should be allowed to die. We treat our pets better than that. If that is what he thinks of life and he plans to reform Medicare and Social Security, be careful. A couple of states already allow doctors to assist a suicide (think euthanasia). So if the people in nursing homes or other care facilities are on government assistance, use your imagination and guess how the government under a radical leader could save money.

When you go to the polls to vote, think further into the future than your pocket book.
