WEST PALM BEACH - Playing against good competition, the Sebring volleyball team managed to split four matches over the weekend in West Palm Beach.
The Blue Streaks, who finished seventh out of 16 squads, knocked off Benjamin on Friday night to advance to the Gold Division, which was the upper bracket of the tournament.
Sebring lost to eventual winner Lake Worth Christian in Friday night's second match and dropped a tough match against Atlantic on Saturday morning.
The Blue Streaks bounced back to defeat Palm Beach Central on Saturday afternoon to finish the tournament on a positive note.
"Playing against that kind of competition was excellent for our team," said Sebring coach Venessa Sinness. "It helped to show the girls how to keep their intensity up and to be mentally prepared.
Sebring is preparing for the Class 4A-District 10 tournament, which is in two weeks in Braden River.
"We've got two weeks to get ready for the district tournament and playing against good teams will only help us," Sinness said. "We're going to be playing in a hostile environment and we have to be focused and ready to play every match if we want to make the playoffs."
