I made a special trip to the Obama Headquarters the other day to purchase an Obama-Biden campaign sign. There used to be a representation of Obama-Biden signs along Hammock Road, along with McCain-Palin signs. Also along Heron Road, there was a representation of both.
Today, only McCain-Palin signs are represented and more prolific than ever. Our undecided voters surely notice the discrepancy. Could it mean that stealing signs by Republicans is the honest, aboveboard method used to insure an honest leadership for 2009? Do they really think name recognition is the only thing on their side?
Then there is the reply to Mrs. Francisco's letter to the editor regarding Susan Benton's race for sheriff. The implication was that she was illiterate and incapable of writing an opinion; are personal attacks such as that allowed?
Although I realize Republicans distance themselves from any responsibility for the current stock market crash, I also realize that the Democrats have a tendency to place them right in the middle of it all. Perhaps the real solution to politics is to restrict the money wasted on the campaigns.
No, I will not buy another sign. No, I will not pull up all the Republican signs along the road. Yes, despite all this pettiness, I encourage my neighbors to vote. Vote either for the sign stealer's candidate or for the candidate of those being stolen from.
