Excusing Sin

Published: October 11, 2008

Wasn't our country founded on Christian beliefs? Yes, it was. Our forefathers wanted to get away from England and be free to worship God. There must have been much enthusiasm in the beginning, even though there were hardships in this new land. However, as the centuries came and went, Christians became so accustomed to routine and common rituals of life that even now, we the people have lost our love for God.

We Christians have become so open minded toward many types of sin that our standards have lowered. We do not love God as we ought; else we wouldn't tolerate the sins all around us.

In the beginning of a change, we have enthusiasm, usually without much knowledge; later it becomes knowledge without enthusiasm. What not to do: Do not make excuses to justify our behavior; do not hate anyone, just sinful actions!

Example: A frog jumped into a pot of boiling water, it died immediately. Another frog jumped into a pot of cold water and the heat was turned on, but this frog was so accustomed to the gradual heat of the water, that it didn't realize that it would slowly suffer. Our country is another example: We were a Christian nation without knowledge of surroundings; now we have knowledge of our surroundings but we are without enthusiasm for God. We are suffering!

Yes we need a change, but a change of heart toward love for God who knows what lies ahead. God knows what is best for us. God will help us have enthusiasm and knowledge if we, like Him, will not tolerate the sin that surrounds us. Speak up o people of God; you know what is right from wrong.
