There has been lots of mud slinging in this election. The Highlands Today website: "Where is Mr. Maxcy" has some negative sayings about him.

Well, Mr. Maxcy is still in town. There is talk he never responded to Berry's invitation. If Berry would check his e-mail, maybe he would have known Maxcy had another commitment. To me, there are a few people who run at the mouth just to stir people up.

Maxcy has been on the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) for around 16 years and still has a job to finish. He has stated this is his last time on the board.

I have known Maxcy about nine years. I moved to Highlands County in Sun 'N Lake (SNL) of Sebring not knowing all the existing and future problems they have here. I got involved with these problems and needed help on different issues. I called Maxcy and discussed what I had in mind and needed his help. Maxcy told me these matters have been going on for years and need taken care of. He has been trying to get this done for all the people of SNL.

Sure Maxcy has done things that you and I do not agree with, but that is what makes the world go around. You and I are not perfect and neither is he. He is at least trying to do his best with what tools he has to work with. Maxcy needs the next four years to try and get these issues finished.

It seems the ones who sit at home and do not attend the BCC or SNL meetings are doing all the moaning. If they are so concerned about the county and taxes, why are they not at these meetings voicing their concerns? I attend as many meetings as possible and if I cannot, I try to watch them on television.

I will be voting for Maxcy on election day because he has always been there for us when we needed help on local matters and is still helping us at this time.
