SEBRING - The four-year terms for City of Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency commissioners Gene Brenner and Kathryn "Kathy" Malie expired at the end of September.
City council members will consider tonight the applications of three people for the city's CRA board of commissioners, when the council meets at 6:30 p.m. at city hall.

Both commissioners have indicated a desire to seek reappointment for another four-year term, said Pete Pollard, executive director of the CRA board.

"Kathy Malie has completed her first four-year term," Pollard said. "Gene Brenner has been on the board since 1992. He is the longest serving CRA commissioner and has served as chairman of the CRA for the past nine years."

Throwing his hat into the ring is Bruce Borkosky, who applied for a vacancy on the Planning and Zoning Board, and noted on his application that he would be interested in applying for other city boards, said Pollard.

"So we contacted him and he asked to be considered for the CRA vacancy," Pollard said.

Whoever the city council appoints will serve a term that will run until Sept. 30, 2012.

Each CRA candidate must live or be in business within the city limits.
Malie is the president of Jewel Consulting Inc., located at 211 Circle S., Suite 4, in Sebring, a business consulting service, including business startups, administrative support, accounting and business planning.

She is a retired economic planner for the city of Fort Lauderdale, Pollard said.

She was serving as vice chairman of the CRA board.

Brenner is the owner of Brenner Pottery and Craft Gallery, located at 104 Circle Park Drive, in Sebring, and with his wife Jo, own three parcels in the historic district. They are also partners in two other parcels within the district.

Borkosky is a licensed psychologist, with a home office at 1800 Lakeview Drive, in Sebring, and recently ran for the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners.
