Registrations Accepted for Sheriff's 5K Challenge On Nov. 8

Registrations are being accepted for the 8th Annual Hernando County Sheriff's Office "Run With the Sheriff — 5K Challenge" scheduled Saturday, Nov. 8. The 5K Challenge will be held at Sand Hill Scout Reservation, 11210 Cortez Blvd.
The final check-in time will be at 7 a.m with the race starting promptly at 8. Pre-registration is $12 and registration on race day will be $17. A free "Kids Fun Run" will be held immediately after the 5K challenge.
Awards will be given to overall first place finishers in the male, female, and masters categories and also for 5 deep in each five year age group from 14 to 75+. A long-sleeve shirt will be given to all runners who pre-register and medals will be awarded to all "Kids Fun Run" participants.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Youth Education Services Inc. (YES) which assists in the funding of youth programs such as DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and GREAT (Gang Resistance Education And Training) and other youth-based educational programs.
Sponsorships for the event are available in $100, $200 and $300 increments. With sponsorship, a business' logo is displayed on all 5K shirts, complimentary race entries and goodie packets.
