The bailout bill has cost us too much already. At a time when the country is in debt into the trillions of dollars, the addition of a few hundred billion is not going to exacerbate our problems is it? Or is it? We already owe our soul to the foreigners.
If a financial or commercial entity is on the brink of failure because of stupid policies, it should be allowed to fail. We innocent civilians out here should not be forced to bail them out of their self-induced headaches. The fact of the matter is that we are not capable of bailing them out; we do not have the resources. That will be a problem for our grandchildren, or maybe our great-great-great grandchildren, if our country lasts that long.
Some say this is the fault of our Congress. If so, then it is the Congress that has failed. Oh, by the way, we already knew that our Congress has failed us. Their favorable ratings have fallen below even President W's. That should have told us something.
Perhaps the solution would be to get rid of Congress and elect a new batch. But don't look at the Democrats. The failure of the Republicans in Congress is that they have acted like Democrats, in that they have promoted ever bigger government and ever more spending lately. Just look at all the earmarks, a.k.a. "pork" to us common people out here.
Will someone please rescind the congressional automatic pay raise and the perks and the golden parachutes? Please! A government position used to be one's civic duty with little or no pay, but today it is the pathway to untold wealth. "Woe is us!"
