"We get what we pay for when using outdated or unfair pay scales" – your headline for this column. Are you suggesting that all the people that were hired knowing what the pay scales were are inferior employees?
Our administrators, sheriff, public works administrators are all inferior because they accepted the pay scales offered to them? When someone applies for a position, the pay scales are presented to them.
If they feel it is not enough, then they should seek employment elsewhere.
Look at all the CEOs of these big corporations that are putting the rest of us in the toilet. They get huge salaries and finagled for golden parachutes.
Again, if they don't like the offer, then they should not seek employment. We now live in a county that has an inflated tax rate that has not decreased much since the building boom, yet our unemployment rate is going up.
Are you suggesting that our county put itself in a position where it might have to go bankrupt?
We have good people running our cities and county in Highlands.
They have all negotiated their pay and are doing their best for the good of the county.
Don't make them think that you feel they are somehow inferior and we could have done better with more money.
