POLK COUNTY Within four hours on Wednesday, a multi-agency traffic enforcement detail along U.S. 27 - conducted by the Florida Highway Patrol - issued 275 citations.
Officers from the FHP, the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Haines City Police Department, Lake Alfred Police Department, Davenport Police Department and Lake Hamilton Police Department conducted the enforcement from 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, according to the FHP.
The marked and unmarked vehicles monitored traffic activity from the Highlands County to Lake County lines. Sgt. Steve Gaskins, FHP Troop C public affairs officer, said all the citations were issued in Polk County, and none in Highlands.
These agencies will team together again for announced, as well as unannounced, enforcement efforts such as the one seen Wednesday.
