SEBRING - A local woman was critically injured following a one-vehicle accident Monday in Glades County.
Cammy Elliton McGuire, 37, was northbound on U.S. 27 – in the inside lane just north of County Road – when her 1998 Chevrolet went off the road and into the median, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
McGuire overcorrected and then lost control. The vehicle rotated clockwise, went onto the road's right shoulder and a barbed wire fence. It overturned several times and McGuire was ejected from the car.
The victim was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. A blood sample was taken and determined that her blood alcohol level was above the legal limit of .08, according to the FHP.
No seat belt was in use at the time of the accident and the vehicle sustained $4,000 in damage, the FHP said.
