LAKE PLACID - Law enforcement officials say they have a person of interest in the case of a Lake Placid man found dead Monday, the victim of a gunshot wound.
At 6 p.m., deputies with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting at 224 Deerwalk Ave. There, they discovered the body of Michael Vernon Arnold, 29, who died from a gunshot wound. The case is being worked as a homicide.
Capt. Randy LaBelle confirmed Thursday morning that the sheriff's office had a person of interest in the case, but no arrests have been made.
He added that two search warrants were conducted for a vehicle and a residence in the vicinity of the shooting and that evidence was collected as a result of these warrants.
The investigation is continuing. No other information was available Thursday.
