Celebrate Library's Birthday At Mad Hatter's Tea Party

SEBRING - Highlands County children can party with Alice In Wonderful and celebrate the 20 years of the Highlands County Library System.

A Mad Hatter's Tea Party, with refreshments and movie time, will usher in the festivities at the three county libraries Saturday.

"Everybody is going to have a wonderful time," said Debra Frisco, of the Sebring Public Library "We're going out of our way to make it a special event."

Sebring Public Library

The Sebring library celebrations will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

•10 a.m. Story time for all ages

•11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fancy face painting and balloons, with special guests, clowns Big Al and Giggles

•12:30 to 2 p.m. Paper hat workshop

•2 p.m. Mad Hatter's Tea Party, including fanciful refreshments, a Wild Hat Contest with prizes, and the chance to wear a decorated hat to the tea party. Prizes will be given to both kids and adults. "Alice in Wonderland" will be shown, along with free hot popcorn.

Lake Placid Public Library

Celebrations are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

•At 10 a.m., librarian Maria Chenique will show how to use the library
•11 a.m. is story time in the Children's Area, with former Children's Librarian Ginger McClure.

•Noon is the showing of "Alice in Wonderland."

•At 1:30 p.m. is the Mad Hatter's Tea Party in the garden (weather permitting) and music by Heartland Orchestra Strings, with Peggy Essex-Klammer and Gene Longo

•At 2 p.m., Toby's Clowns will be in the children's area

Avon Park Public Library

•Celebrations will be from 2 to 5 p.m.

There will be refreshments and Toby's clowns.

•"Alice in Wonderland" will be shown from 3:30 to 5 p.m. There will be free popcorn.
