Bigotry Outnumbered This Election Season

Published: November 7, 2008

It is late Tuesday evening for me as I write this and it's apparent who will win the election. I and hundreds of those from whom I receive e-mail and have cast their ballots are, right now, hoping and praying that somehow John McCain will overcome the large deficit the polls are showing, but it's not very likely.

It's apparent to me that bigotry has finally been overcome. We must pray that this is not the first Jihad in the United States.

Change Is Coming

Obama is going to win, but I am going to continue to be an optimist and believe the changes he will make will be along conservative lines.

I personally know of very few who have actually proclaimed their support for Obama, and I think I know why, it's because he is a liberal Democrat who believes in spending on welfare and supports giving unearned money to those who are not capable of providing for themselves. Democrats are known for keeping the poor, poor with welfare checks. Obama plans to select Supreme Court justices, maybe Hillary Clinton, for their liberal stand on same sex marriages, teaching homosexuality in schools and allowing homosexuals to adopt children.

He is far ahead because there is a majority of young people voting. A majority of people who believe that abortion is all right; a majority of people who think that it is OK to teach our children that love making with the same sex is OK as long as it is taught how to do it in school.

His platform was "Change." We will surely see a great change in the coming years.

Highlands Voted For McCain

I was in McDonald's this morning enjoying my breakfast after voting. There was a gathering of folks about my own age sitting around chatting and enjoying the company they were with. Talk was mainly about the election and whether or not they have yet voted. Only a few had, but mainly by early voting. One lady said that she and her husband were going to the polls later on to cast her ballot because her son was going to vote for Obama and she wanted to make sure they canceled that vote and gain at least one. She could not figure out why he was going to vote Democratic and could not for the life of her convince him to do otherwise. No one there was an Obama supporter or was holding his tongue.

Welfare Won

My thoughts were that it was because he is one of the "NOW" generation; those who want everything now without having earned it. To be able to buy a half-million dollar house with a few thousand dollars a month income. Or maybe because the most important thing in life was his $400 telephone, full of text messages supporting Obama that his parents were paying for.

I am a Republican because I remember when my mother had to accept handouts while I was still in school and the shame that I had to endure from my classmates because I was receiving free lunches.

Welfare is shameful. There must be some way developed to eliminate it to avoid keeping people forever in a state of poverty. I issue that challenge to him.

The election is now over and we should now espouse unity and give this new president-elect our support.
