One senses that your coverage of campaign 2008 was strategically designed to educate not sway the public. And you carried out that strategy wonderfully.

Thank you for holding the candidates forum early in the campaign season.

Following charges of Obamamania against the press, you noticeably shifted to conservative columnists and editorial cartoonists favoring Sen. McCain. Then, after things evened out, you adopted the generally balanced coverage of the two presidential candidates which persisted up to Election Day.

Thanks for publishing letters on both sides of campaign issues.

Thank you for your helpful, impartial, "Know the Candidates" insert and for your editorials explaining some of the more complex issues such as Amendment One.

Finally, when an endorsement for sheriff was needed by a public confused about whether Sheriff Benton deserved another shot or that we needed to make a change, you stepped up to the plate.

Among the clear winners in campaign 2008 was Highlands Today. Thanks!
