Heartland Workforce Hosts Job Fair At SFCC

AVON PARK - A job fair - sponsored by - Heartland Workforce and South Florida Community College will have at least 30 employers.

The event will be held Thursday, Nov. 6 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the college's Avon Park campus, 600 W. College Drive, in Building B.

There will be full-time as well as part-time jobs available in the medical field, hospitality and education.

As of Friday, the participating employers included: American Medical Response, Bealls, Cross Country Automotive Services, Children's Home Society of Florida, Circuit City, Comcast Cable, Experience Works, Florida Hospital, Florida Institute for Neurological Rehabilitation, GEO Group/FCCC, Glades Electric Cooperative, Hardee Manor Health Care, Good Shepherd Hospice, Highlands County Board of County Commissioners, Highlands County School Board, Kids Hope United, Keller Williams Realty of Highlands County, Lake Placid Health Care, Long's Air Conditioning Inc., Michaels Arts and Crafts, Quality Inn and Conference Center, Residence Inn by Marriott, South Florida Community College, Southern Lifestyle ALF, TECO Energy Inc., UPS, Verizon Wireless, Walgreens, Marine Corps, U.S. Army, Florida Army National Guard and U.S. Air Force.

"We know times are tough, and we want to help," said Cheryl Sharp, business operations director for Heartland Workforce. "Over 24 employers have registered to participate, bringing many job opportunities including retail sales, health care, banking and many more."

Sharp noted that job seekers should dress for an interview and bring a resume.
