I was pleased to read the article about bully laws being created to protect school children. The pro-Amendment 2 letters recently printed express much concern for the welfare of children but they are overlooking the fact that we are all children.

These adult acts of prejudice against homosexuals, 26 states' laws against us, the push to pass another law against Florida's gays, is nothing short of bullying, adult style. Just because they are using the process of voting makes it no less wrongful and hurtful.

Remember the childhood bullies? They too were often supported by the majority. The quest for laws that require both male and female genitalia as the main criteria for marriage greatly disturbs me. They say that it will "protect the children." But what they are really doing is inflicting further abuse upon prior and current victims of childhood bullying.

The language in the amendment, "no other relationships will be considered valid" is dangerous to all relationships that don't fit their definition of marriage. Yet, a 60-year-old heterosexual can marry a 20-year-old foreigner and immigrate them to America, get divorced, and do it all over again, and again. If I fall in love with someone, I'm not allowed to get married even once. That's unfair discrimination.

Why do Amendment 2 supporters want to keep gay people from having a stable family life? Do they want to encourage promiscuous and lonely behavior? Do they want children to be so full of self-loathing that they kill themselves, or to feel so disconnected from society that they take to a killing spree? They don't care about children at all.

They are using an outdated and mis-translated Bible to justify the passing of laws that dictate who can and who cannot have families. Do they also believe in incest and genocide? Those acts were condoned in the Bible. If this state passes one more hateful Christian ballot issue against gays you are going to see the children of Florida fight back. The bullying stops now! Keep religion out of politics, vote No on 2.
