As we approach the finish line in this heated campaign, we must congratulate all those in the race: My most sincere congratulations to our Sheriff Susan Benton for her magnificent and professional wisdom. The P.B.A. has made a lot of noise against her, like a hen does when she has merely laid an egg, and when you listen to the hen noise it is as if she had laid an asteroid.

Ultimately it is not the stories that determined our choices but the outcome of our actions. Susan Benton has never looked down on anybody except when she is helping them up. Wilson Mizner once said, be nice to people on your way up, because you'll meet them on your way down.

Don't wait for something big to happen, just start where you are and something better will take place, and don't forget what Kay Lyons said, yesterday is a cancelled check, tomorrow is a promissory note, today is the only cash you have, so spend it wisely. Re-elect Susan Benton.
