Why should a "high school graduate," whose academic quality is not equal to a low average eighth-grader, insist on going to academic college?
The only reason is that it gives the student and his/her parents an air of sophistication.
Talents and abilities differ immensely. Some who are excellent academically, would bomb out in numerous other areas.
A full semester in the eighth grade should be devoted exclusively to helping both students and their parents determine areas of interest and gifts so that a wise decision can be made professionally and vocationally (numerous methods of accomplishing this can be developed if the decision to do so is determined.)
It is sad the high percentage of people who say in their later years, "If I had my life to live over. I would have chosen a different profession or vocation."
What a terrible waste of happiness and accomplishment.
