EDC To Host Business Development Breakfast

SEBRING — The presentation of awards to two businesses and an international trade seminar will highlight the annual Highlands County Business Development Breakfast on Friday, May 23.

The breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. at Inn on the Lakes, located at the corner of Golfview Road and U.S. 27., in Sebring. The Highlands County Start-Up Business Of The Year and the Highlands County Small Business Of The Year will be recognized during the event.

The guest speaker will be Eileen Rodriguez, executive director of the Small Business Development Center at the University of South Florida. Rodriguez has been working with the SBDC since 1997 providing one-on-one confidential counseling and teaching seminars in English and Spanish on small business start-up, international trade, women and minority certification. She owned her own business for four years prior to joining the SBDC.

The trade seminar will follow at 9 a.m. and will be led by Rodriguez.

The breakfast is being hosted by the Highlands County Economic Development Commission.
