In Tuesday May 13's paper on the front page, Jim Konkoly published a very good article titled "Mahoney Outlines Plan To End Recession." The article went on to tell of the talk Mr. Mahoney gave at the homeowners meeting on May 12.
At the end of the article he talked about some of the questions that were asked and the answers that Mr. Mahoney gave. A good bit of the Mahoney plan to end the recession was based on putting the people to work in the construction industry.
The first question that was asked in the question and answer session was, "How would he keep illegal aliens from taking construction jobs on public infrastructure projects aimed at putting American citizens back to work." The answer given was "We can get this problem fixed, but it cannot be a campaign issue." He said "It's not rocket science, you just have to have the will to do it."
Mr. Mahoney said that the politicians that stand in the way of solving the illegal alien problem do so because they think they can profit politically from making it an ongoing political issue and making voters angry.
According to Mr. Mahoney, President George W. Bush, the Democrats and the Republicans in the U.S. Senate, and the Democrats in the House of Representatives agree to the illegal aliens issue. No solution is being enacted though he said, because of the Republican members of the House of Representatives.
Now the rest of the story.
The second question asked dealt with "HR-4088 The Save Act (Secure America with Verification and Enforcement.) The question was "Would he tell everyone why he had not supported letting it come to the floor for discussion and a vote" (for the readers information, this act "requires all American employers to verify employees eligibility to work in the United States through the E-Verify program, established as the basic plot of the 1996 Act." The E-Verify system checks the employees eligibility to work in the United States in a matter of minutes instead of months, like the I-9 form that is now in use, and would solve the problem of illegal aliens taking the jobs of American citizens. With the ability to work in the U.S.A. gone, the illegal aliens would self deport back to their home country.) At this point Mr. Mahoney puffed up like Bill Clinton when he is backed into a corner, and began telling us among other things, that he was against the discharge part of the bill. He said that he would not vote for it because it was being made a political issue.
This bill is being held off the floor of the House of Representatives by the speaker of the House, and would require 218 supporters to force it to the floor. I thought at the time I asked that question, that Mr. Mahoney was walking lockstep with a number of other liberal Democrats to keep this bill off the floor, and assure a ready supply of cheap illegal labor for big money to draw from. And, the answer he gave proved that I was right. Mr. Mahoney is part of the group trying to stop any bills that would solve the illegal alien problem. So if you approve of the illegal aliens invading our country, then you need to vote for Mr. Mahoney. If you would like to see the illegal aliens forced into self deportation and the illegal alien problem solved, we need to get Mr. Mahoney out of office.
