OKEECHOBEE - OKEECHOBEE - Tommy Bertoniere clubbed a three-run home run and finished with four RBI on Sunday to pace Sebring in a 15-3 victory over rival Avon Park, eliminating AP from the Dixie 14-year-old District 8 tournament at Okeechobee Sports Complex.
Sebring scored two in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth to build a 9-2 lead before a 51-minute rain delay halted the game in the sixth.
Gunnar Westergom picked up the victory with 2 2/3 innings of work, while Seth Abeln pitched 3 1/3 and Slade Copeland pitched a scoreless seventh inning to close the game out.
Sebring will face the loser of Sunday night's Okeechobee-Clewiston contest at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The winner of that game will play for the district title.
