I have just finished reading the opinion of Dale L. Gillis on his views that "homosexuality is not inborn." I wonder what possesses a supposed heterosexual to be so inclined to determine that an individual's sexuality is not biological and simply a choice?
Do you, my fellow human, have the same sexual attraction, love and the desire for a man as a woman? Maybe you have no sexual attraction for the same sex whatsoever, or maybe you have some attraction for the same sex? If you have no sexual attraction for the same sex, then what possesses you to spend so much time, energy on research to personally determine that your opinion is the correct one? Could your thoughts be because of religion, political, or both?
The two sayings that my grandfather always instilled me were," beware of those who yell the loudest, they most likely have the most to hide," and "the smeller is the feller."
We have watched as the Republican Party selected the president that now has the worst opinion rating in the history of any president. The Republicans realized early on that the only way they could get elected was to go to the pulpit and preach sexual morality and national security. They were the moral ones and the liberal Democrats would desecrate marriage if elected.
Fast forward to today. Many high profile Republicans, preachers and politicians are caught in male bathrooms looking for sex, caught in male prostitute rings and illegal drug solicitations. Today politicians from both sides are coming out of the closet. Yes, it is history that Vice President Dick Cheney has unconditional love and support of his lesbian daughter.
I am sure that homosexuality will once again be the platform of this election in hopes of those most fearful will vote for them. Mr. Gillis, your opinion is yours but please do not state it as fact. After many years of depression in my childhood because of people like you, I understand why I have the same sexual feelings toward beautiful old oak trees as I do the most beautiful of females. My God tells me that he will gladly debate your God later. I am secure in my sexuality and I hope you are too!
Oh yes, one last note, my partner and I met very early in life and have lasted more than a quarter of a century. His father was a Christian minister and had recently switched from a Republican to Democrat. His last words to us was, "Today's hateful religion is not the loving one that our God intended it to be."
