SEBRING - The summer rains are coming but water restrictions are not relenting.
The Southwest Florida Water Management District's Governing Board voted unanimously to extend the once-per-week restrictions that have been in place since January 2007 through Sept. 30.
"We need people to continue to be vigilant," District Executive Director David Moore said in a press release from SWFWMD. "We appreciate their efforts to conserve through the dry season and we need them to continue. Now is the time to try and help our water resources recover."
SWFWMD covers part of Highlands County, including Avon Park, Sebring, Lake Placid and portions of Venus. Even though homeowners in Lorida and the eastern part of the county live in a different water district, county laws require everyone to follow SWFWMD's restrictions.
