SEBRING - Sunday's storm mostly brought light rainfall to the area but drenched Placid Lakes, a subdivision to the southwest of Lake Placid.
Ruskin's National Weather Service radar estimated that as much as four to five inches of rain fell in the Placid Lakes area. The nearby Archbold Biological Station officially recorded 2.25 inches between 8 a.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.
This presented some of the heaviest rainfall to southern Highlands County since work on State Road 8 and Toni Drive began last year to raise the roads in the flood-prone area. Lake Placid supervisor Blake Lowry with the county's Road and Bridge Department said he hasn't heard any flooding complaints by Monday.
An earlier storm also knocked out power to about 400 Lake Placid-area customers Saturday afternoon when a lightning strike damaged some equipment, a Progress Energy spokeswoman said.
Meanwhile, the northern part of the county did not get nearly as much of a soaking, but Saturday's storms brought 1.14 inches of rain to Avon Park. The rainfall was only 0.02 inches Sunday.
