ARCADIA — There may have been just two boys competing in the 17-18 year-old boys division at Thursday's Sertoma Junior Tour stop at The Bluffs golf course, but that didn't stop Sebring's Blake Liles and Avon Park's Greg Gentry from making a match of it.

Liles fired a 73 to take the overall championship, while Gentry finished just behind with a 74 in the second stop of the annual summer tour.

"Nobody else showed up," said Liles, who said neither him nor Gentry they were within a stroke of each other down the stretch. "I wasn't too worried about it — I knew I was up after the front, but I gave up a few strokes on the back nine."

Liles bogeyed No. 10, 11 and 12 but was consistent off the tee to finish with two birdies and 13 pars.
"The fairways were running pretty good," Liles said. "My driving was working for me, and my chipping got me up and down a few times."

The 14-18 girls division was won by Camiel White, who carded a 93 to win among 14 to 18-year-old girls. Sarah Liles took second place with a 102, while Savana Fisher finished tied with Kara Norris for third with a 114.

Evan Danzey was the third and final player to break 80 and won the 15-16 boys division with a 78, edging Aaron Walkup, who finished second with an 82, and Sean Garner, who nabbed third with an 83.
Colin Walkup took top honors in the 13-14 boys race with an 84, ahead of Daniel Miller's 88 and William Beattie's 108.

Tariq Ausaf won the 11-12 boys division with a nine-hole total of 48 and Jett Dexter won the 9-10 boys division with a nine-hole score of 45. Silas Berry finished second among 11-12 boys with a 50, followed by Tyler Hewett, who took third.

Kyle Hewitt, Nic Staffieri and Ben Tubbs, meanwhile, tied for second in the 9-10 boys division with a trio of 51s.

Kendall Griffin won the 10-under girls division with a 55, while Julian Crozier took the 6-8 boys division with a six-hole score of 39.

The Sertoma Tour returns to action next week with the two-day All-State Championship at Highlands Ridge golf club, which opens at the south course at 9 a.m. Thursday.

"This is our first of three majors of the year," said Sertoma Tour director Andy Kesling, noting he expects 50-60 players to navigate the Avon Park courses, including Bagwell champion Rocky Khara and prior division champ Jason Sava. "It should be pretty competitive."

Liles said accuracy will be important on the first day at the narrow south course.
"I like the north more — it's a little longer and more open," Liles said. "As long as I do well on the first day, I'll be set."
