SEBRING — A Sebring man remained in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $85,000 bond Tuesday after he was arrested as a suspect in an armed robbery near Mandy Circle and Savannah Circle in Sebring.
Jamal Shasid Daniels, 37, of 247 Mandy Circle, was charged with one count of armed robbery with a knife and petty theft first offense.
At about 11:28 a.m. Sunday, Sebring Police Officer Matt Cloud was approached at Savannah Circle where a 20-year-old man said he was robbed at knife point.
The victim told Cloud that he was walking between two residences when a man, later identified as Daniels, came up from behind and put a headlock on him, the report stated.
The victim then told Cloud that the suspect brandished a flip-open style knife with a wooden handle and reportedly put it to the left side of his throat and demanded the victim give him "everything he's got."
The victim took off his Fila shoes and black pants with his wallet, his driver's license and $10 cash. He told Cloud that he ran from the scene because he thought Daniels would use the knife on him, the report stated.
He gave Cloud a good description of the suspect including a shirt he had on with the No. 17 on it.
Cloud didn't have to look long when he found Daniels in the next block on Mandy Circle wearing a yellow shirt with the No. 17 on it, the report stated.
The victim reportedly identified Daniels as the man who robbed him.
After the arrest, the victim's identification was recovered from Daniel's right front pants pocket, the report stated.
