COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — The Sebring Streaks continued their sizzling play as tournament play got under way on Wednesday at the Cooperstown Dreams Park National Invitational Tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park.

The Sebring team won its fifth straight game on Wednesday morning, a 13-3 thumping of the Lake Bluff Bobcats of Illinois, after having their way with the St. Louis Mustangs of Missouri in a 19-1 rout on Tuesday evening.

Every Streaks player scored in the opening inning of Tuesday's victory, with Dane Maddox crushing a three-run homer and a grand slam in the same inning.

Tyler Carr took the mound for the Streaks, and other than giving up an early solo home run to St. Louis, mowed down batters in a mercy-rule-shortened 3 1/2 inning game.

Alfred Brown scored four times in the game and Cullen Lovett and Ty Little scored three runs each.
After Tuesday's game, the Streaks were seeded tied for 25th out of the 98-team field.

That seeding looked to be safe after Wednesday's victory, which was keyed by Ty Little's three hits and three RBI and Garrett DeRoss' two hits and three RBI. Alex Forde had two singles and two RBI, while Tyler Carr added two RBI.

The Streaks' second game on Wednesday was the beginning of the single-elimination tournament (see Friday's Highlands Today for result).

The oppressive heat in Cooperstown was broken Tuesday when storms rolled through the area. Florida teams seemed to be at home in the weather, however: Nine of the top 25 seeded teams are from Florida.

The championship game of the tournament will be played at 3 p.m. Thursday with closing ceremonies to follow.
