City Council Of Crowned Jewels

Published: June 8, 2008

It has been a while since my last article but I cannot stand by in silence as the city council will assess a fee on all homeowners. Brace yourselves and get ready to feel the wrath of the crown jewels.

The crown paid $32,000 to come up with this fee and let's face it, it is a way to circumvent the reduction in taxes that was voted on and overwhelmingly passed by us the Florida taxpayers.

The definition of the word fee comes from Webster's meaning and I quote " FEOH which is akin to cattle, property of an estate with acreage or land held by a feudal lord or land lord and is a fixed charge for services rendered." I will bet you that the growers and farmers and agriculture as a whole does not pay their fair share based on acreage.

Firefighters across the nation have undeniably stated that a fire on many acres woodlands or groves and farms are far worse to fight than a house fire as is evidence by the fires out west and more recently the one nears Henscratch. The crown I will bet has insulated themselves and the land owners as is evident by adding real property, meaning us the homeowners and this fee will be taxes on us. You can live your whole life and not have a house fire and yet the crown has said that you must pay this fee for services not rendered. Just try to get a refund of this fee.

While all of this is going on the greenest grass is by Lake Jackson and I have even witnessed pipes being extended deeper into the lake for that oh so green look. In fact, I'll bet that on the north side of U.S. 27 across from the inn, a new house or two may appear on the land formerly under water.

The crowned jewels of the city have not noticed that everything is costing more and yet they have the gall to impose punitive fees on the homeowners of Sebring as a way to go around the law. After all that is what crown councils do.

At a time when food, gas, drugs, medical, cost of goods etc. goes up, they might as well get on the band wagon. So let us as homeowners in Sebring have a public coronation for this crowning of achievements which is a jewel of a deed. Let us also put rings in our noses and be led around as slaves to the crown and accept this bidding from the crown jewel of council. The last time I got a colonoscopy I got sedated and the next time I may forego the medication because I will not be able to afford it.

In closing, over 250 years ago the British Crown and his council unfairly increased the fee or tax on tea. Men disguised as Indians boarded the ships in Boston Harbor and discarded all the tea into the salt water. For this current crown I can only say that there are never any Indians around when you need them.
