SEBRING — Stewart Construction in Sebring is launching a new handyman division.
The goal is to make simple repairs and improvements easier for the homeowner. This new service is designed for the everyday repairs and improvements that make your home more functional and comfortable, such as replacing doors and lock sets, installing new bathroom faucets, wall repairs and painting.
The company, which is a state licensed certified building contractor and roofing contractor, is offering an introductory free home inspection to Highlands County homeowners.
The company is well known for remodeling and building, but Mark Stewart also saw a need in the community for general home repairs.
A client can make one call and schedule to change leaky faucets, fix the front door locks, install a light fixture and repair the gutters all at once, instead of making three calls to a plumber, an electrician and a carpenter. The handyman service will schedule any trades needed to complete the repairs.
Madge Stewart said: "I wanted to call the new handyman division 'Rent a Husband,' but the name was already trademarked. Our crews can do the kinds of repairs that go on The List — you know the one that seems to take a long time to get finished."
Conserving energy and aging in place improvements are also two unique and beneficial segments of the handyman service. Saving energy in uneasy economic climates, is often the reason homeowners do minor upgrades, such as adding ceiling fans, changing light fixtures, changing water heaters or installing timers that save them money on monthly energy bills.
Stewart Construction has been in business in Sebring since 1989. For more information or to schedule a free 30-minute home inspection, call 385-9403.
