Liles Duo Wins Sertoma Junior Golf Tournament

SEBRING –– Playing as a well-honed team, the talented duo of Blake Liles and Vince Liles carded five birdies en route to a 76 to win the Boys First Flight in Sunday's Sertoma Junior Golf Tour's adult/child tournament.

The opening event of the Sertoma Junior Tour's summer season attracted a field of 82 players, who competed in an alternate-shot format over 18 holes of the demanding Turtle Run course at Sun 'N Lake Country Club.

Placing second in the First Flight was the duo of Russ Rudd and Clay Davis with a 78, while Joel Walkup and Colin Walkup came in third with an 83.

Zach Walkup and Aaron Walkup finished fourth with an 86, and Jason Silva and Kim Darrow claimed fifth with an 89.

In the Boys Second Flight, Justin Painter and Will Bennett finished first with a 92, while Toby Watkins and Austin Tracey placed second with a 97, after a match of cards with William Beattie and Bill Beattie.

Kenny Hewett and Tyler Hewett came in fourth with a 103, after a match of cards with Tommy Taylor and Dalton Hewett.

The Boys Third Flight was won by Matt Moye and J.M. Brown with an 85, while Kenny Sanders and Dalton Reas came in second with a 90.

Craig Hinote and Lee Hinote finished third with a 96, after a match of cards with Bud Wester and Garret Norris, while Randy Tubbs and Ben Tubbs came in fifth with a 99.

In the Girls First Flight, Tom McClurg and Kendall Griffin finished first with a 90, while Ben Norris and Kara Norris placed second with a 91.

Wes Fisher and Savannah Fisher came in third with a 92, while Colin Moffatt and Paige Moffatt finished fourth at 107 and Lisa Lovett and Lindsey Lovett came in fifth with a 120.

"It was a great day and it was a good turnout for our opening event," said Sertoma Tour director and Sun 'N Lake assistant professional Andy Kesling. "Everybody enjoyed themselves and we had a nice dinner after the round."

The Sertoma Tour, which is in its 14th year, continues with the next event slated for Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Country Club of Sebring.

"We're looking forward to the season and any of the youngsters that want to play need to get signed up and get out on the course," said Kesling.

The annual Bagwell Junior Invitational, which is not part of the Sertoma Tour, is set for Saturday and Sunday at River Greens Golf Course.
